Greg Birmingham, “DJ Bobby Bristol,” company founder and happiest when entertaining
The year was 1975 when Bobby Bristol got inspired as a high schooler DJing for the local radio station…
Back in 1975, bands dominated the entertainment scene. Greg Birmingham was a young high school-aged DJ working at WINX Radio in Rockville, Maryland. He fell in love with announcing for basketball games and hosting parties after the games (at this time, called “sock-hops”). This led to DJing at bowling banquets and holiday parties, which led to pool parties and wedding receptions…
While at University of Maryland, Greg joined Washington area’s first DJ company, Sounds Dynamic. Greg saw what was possible doing what he loved, which led to taking a leap after graduation and deciding to pursue building a music entertainment business full time. In September of 1982, Greg formed Bristol Sounds DJs and took on the DJ Name ‘DJ Bobby Bristol.’ He took a big risk, and it paid off!
The business grew quickly. His $2000 investment in records and a sound system expanded to events all over the Baltimore and Washington areas. Greg constantly innovated with new technology (see ‘veejay’ article) and creative ways to entertain at weddings and corporate events (‘Funtastic Field Day’).
Some of the same DJs associated with Bristol Sounds DJs at the beginning are still working with us today (shout out to Keith Robinson!). DJ Bobby’s son, Michael, is keeping the family tradition alive after Greg passed away from his battle with ALS in 2015. Michael manages the business and carries on Greg “DJ Bobby Bristol’s” legacy and passion for music and bringing people together.

Michael Birmingham
Owner
Growing up in the music industry, Michael first pressed play on the decks when he was 3 years old. Specializing in corporate, retail, and student events, there’s no event where he can’t rock the crowd. He also works on partnerships with venues and many other aspects of running a local business.

The best wedding DJ and MC in the DMV. Louie is bilingual and can take any type of event to the next level. He’s incredibly creative and has degrees in both sound and video technology.

DJ Keith has been working for Bristol Sounds for over 30 years. Chances are that if you have been to an event in the DMV…Keith was the DJ. As an incredible MC, he thrives at running events for all ages and will be on the dance floor with your crowd when you least expect it! With over 3,000 events completed, you are sure to get one of the best DJ performances in town.

DJ G Money has been working with Bristol Sounds for over 10 years. You might have seen him on Fox 5 in DC or entertaining at some of the largest corporate events in the area. Greg knows how to remix a song like no one else.

Before Monica became a Twitch DJ star, she was crafting her skills for over 10 years as a DJ with Bristol Sounds. She trained her son Mason, who is one our youngest DJ’s and will be a star in the DC DJ scene for years to come
